What to expect from a PHC program

• Professional support – Our Plant Health Care experts will ask questions, explore your landscape’s priorities, and determine your expectations. Our ISA Certified Arborists are well-trained, educated, and experienced professionals who are familiar with landscape plants, their needs, and the pests and diseases most likely to attack.
• Individual care - Every yard is different. One homeowner's desires and expectations will differ from another’s. Each homeowner’s desires will drive the program while our professionals care for the trees and landscape.
  
• Frequent monitoring - Early problem detection is key to long-term success. Our professionals may inspect your yard every 3 to 6 weeks during growing the season. A scouting report may be given to the homeowner after a visit, alerting them to any existing or anticipated problems.

• Treatment options and alternatives - If unhealthy environmental factors are present, the PHC professional will provide the homeowner with information about the problem and all possible treatment options - just like a doctor would a patient. The best choices usually involve natural processes, those that are least intrusive. Our professionals will work closely with the homeowner to decide what is best for the yard and the homeowner’s management desires.
• Environmental sensitivity - Healthy plants naturally enhance their environment, strengthening natural defense systems and suppressing pests. Micro-Injection Information
Do you have problems with gumballs from your sweet gum trees or too many acorns from your oaks? A deflowering agent for sweet gum trees that eliminates young flowers before they fertilize to form gumballs. One application of Snipper® in early spring causes premature death of developing flowers, but does not affect foliage. Use Snipper® to eliminate costly maintenance of sweet gum trees in the fall.

PHC by Woodland Tree also offers a wide variety of micro-injections for the addition of nutrients or the control of insects, fungus, and other pests. Upon a professional evaluation from one of our certified arborists that an application is favored, the administrator determines the number of micro units based on the species and caliper of the plant to be treated. A small hole is drilled at the base of the tree for immediate insertion and release of the microinjection treatment. Uptake is immediate in most cases. Although injection is often quickly effective, it is not a cure-all for trees in decline. Let one of our arborists see if a micro-injection is right for your trees.

Deep Root Fertilization Information
While not actually all that deep into the soil, only down to about 18”, this method of fertilizing adds essential nutrients back into the soil for the trees to utilize in the growing season. Using a probe, our PHC professionals inject a specialized fertilizer mixture specifically calculated for your yard based on nutrient needs as determined by a soil sample.

The soil sample is the first step in helping to determine the nutrient needs of your landscape. Using this sample, our Plant Health Care professionals will be able to calculate the necessary amounts of fertilizer to apply.
